INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. GOD’S PEOPLE HERE: We extend our Christian sympathy to Nancy and Jim Wells at the death of their daughter, Laura, on Friday March 14 after a long battle with cancer. Their home address is 217 Applewood, Southbury, CT 01488; home phone is 203-264-1276…Sam Halsey is at home recuperating slowly and surely from a quintuple heart bypass at St. Vincent’s Hospital on Friday, March 21….We hold in prayer Mike Chase, Carol Kern’s half-brother, who will be undergoing lung surgery at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham on Monday, April 14….We bid Godspeed this morning to Bill and Donna Jester, who are moving to Delaware. STAFF NOTES:  David Graybill, Pastor, will be away from this Friday, April 4 through Sunday, April 6, visiting with his Uncle Harry in Eufaula, Alabama. In his absence, he may be reached by phone at Uncle Harry’s (334-689-4558). At worship next Sunday Jane Field will serve as liturgist and Elder John Celentano as preacher.

 

A GIRLFRIEND’S GUIDE TO THE BIBLE

 

This Bible study, for women interested in nourishing themselves and their faith, continues this Friday, April 4, 10:00 AM (Lounge) or next Sunday, April 6, 11:30 AM (Upper Core).   The theme of these sessions is Truthfulness- Gentle Truth Telling: At home, at work, at church. The remaining sessions: (4/25 or 4/27: Care-fullness-Going to the Back of the Boat: Caring for others while we care for ourselves and 5.2 or 5/4: Mindfulness-Reading and hearing God’s Word through the meditative practice of Lectio Divina. SPRING CHORAL CELEBRATION AT WPC!

Mark your calendars and come enjoy an evening of choral music! Mary Bozzuti Higgins will be the featured soprano soloist. Other musicians will include Brian Paul Thomas, organist/choirmaster at St. Marks Episcopal Church, New Canaan, Naomi Senzer on flute, and Kathy Giampietro on oboe. In addition to Rutter’s “Requiem” the celebration will include Anton Bruckner’s “Locus Iste”, John Spafford’s terrific arrangement of “It Is Well With My Soul”, and another Rutter composition, “Gaelic Blessing.” A very special work will be “Let Evening Come”, a piece specifically written and arranged for concert by Clay Zambo, organist at Our Lady of Fatima Church.

 

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to help defray expenses. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. A wine and cheese reception will follow the program in the WPC Parish Hall.

ADULT EDUCATION SPRING PROGRAM: Sunday Mornings at 9 AM in the Conference Library:  "The Language of God" By Francis S. Collins, April 6, 27, May 4, 11. Dr. Collins, one of the world’s leading geneticists and head of the International Human Genome Project, describes his own journey from atheism to belief as he unraveled some of the mysteries of human life. The book is available on Amazon and at Border's.  Please join us even if you are only able to attend one or two sessions and don't get a chance to open the book.

 

AN OUTDOOR WORK DAY

Back by popular demand! Early spring is a great time for the members of Wilton Presbyterian and St. Matthew’s to clean and tidy the grounds of our churches. This is a wonderful time of fun and fellowship for people of all ages.

  • Repair and paint the dumpster enclosure             Spring cleanup of beds, raking lawns
  • Cleaning sand from the parking lot                      Spruce up the playground
  • Other needs that arise

The workday will be held unless there is heavy snow or heavy rain. Bring shovels, pitch forks, rakes and wheelbarrows. Coffee and refreshments will be served. Call Dave Hapke if you have any questions, 762-7479.
