INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. Should this be the right time and season for you to join this family of faith, please speak with the Pastor or call the church office (762-5514). The next regularly scheduled Session meeting to receive new members will be Sunday, April 27,  9:30 AM in the Quiet/Meditation Room.

 

STAFF NOTES:  Jane Field, Youth & Children’s Activities Director, is worshipping at Zion’s Hill Methodist Church this morning….the church office will be closed this Friday, March 21 and Monday, March 24 in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively.

 

GOD’S PEOPLE HERE: We hold close in prayer Mike Chase, half-brother of Carol Kern, and his wife, Connie, in Enterprise, Alabama. Mike has been diagnosed with lung cancer…We continue to hold close in prayer Kay and Dick Lyons in Seattle, Washington. Kay, Frank Mabley’s sister, continues her protocol for bone marrow transplant.  

 

A GIRLFRIEND’S GUIDE TO THE BIBLE

 

This 6 week course explores selected texts and topics that especially speak to women interested in nourishing themselves and their faith. (Friday group, 10:00 AM in the Lounge) and (Sunday group, 11:30 AM in the Upper Core).  

                                                                                                                       

Each week, we’ll explore texts and topics tending to our faith through:            

v      Wilderness              Feeling like Job-ette: Why is this happening to me?                                                     3/14  or 3/16

v      Prayerfulness          Re-imagining the Lord’s Prayer with The Lady’s Prayer                                              3/28  or 3/30

v      Truthfulness            Gentle Truth Telling: At home, at work, at church                                                             4/4 or 4/6

v      Care-fullness           Going to the Back of the Boat: Caring for others while                                                  4/25 or 4/27

we care for ourselves

v      Mindfulness            Reading and hearing God’s Word through the meditative                                     5/2 or 5/4

                                    practice of Lexio Divina

BIBLE WITH THE BOYS will meet this Tuesday, March 18, from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM this Tuesday only.

 

LENTEN WEDNESDAY SUPPERS AND TABLE TALKS this Wednesday, March 19, 6:15 PM – Pot-luck supper (for children, teens, and adults), 6:45 PM – Bible Table Talks (led by /David Graybill): “Jesus’ Crucifixion”

This Wednesday will be the last supper/Bible table talk on the theme: “Through Hardship to Hope.” Bring yourself and some simple, natural foods to share with others.

 

EASTER BRUNCH: The Church Life Committee is in need of volunteers to make casseroles for the brunch. Please contact Ellen Mann (ehazmann1@aol.com or 761-9222) if you can help out. She has the recipe that she can either email or snail mail to you. Thanks so much.

 

CHILDREN’S CHOIR:  All kids in Grades K-5 are invited to join WPC’s Children’s Choir for Palm Sunday and Easter. Remaining rehearsals are Thursday, 4:30-5:15 PM, March 20 and Saturday, March 22 at 9:30 AM. Please let us know if your children are planning to sing. RSVP to the church office at 762-5514 or wpchurch@snet.net.

 

EASTER FLOWER AND MUSIC FUNDS. Members wishing to donate to the annual Easter Flower Fund and/or the Music Fund are encouraged to send contributions – in whatever amount you wish – to the church office no later than tomorrow, Monday, March 17. Please remember to note the name(s) of those family members, relatives, and close friends to whom you wish remembered/honored. Names and donors will be printed in the Easter worship bulletins.
