INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. Should this be the right time and season for you to join this family of faith, please speak with the Pastor or call the church office (762-5514). The next regularly scheduled Session meeting to receive new members will be next Sunday, March 16,  9:30 AM in the Quiet/Meditation Room.

 

GOD’S PEOPLE HERE:  We extend our Christian sympathy to Lori Miller, Pastor at Zion’s Hill Methodist Church in Wilton, at the death of her mother, Ruth, who died on Saturday, March 1st  in Greenwood, South Carolina after a long illness…Randy Hatch is recuperating well at home (and at work!) from back surgery for a herniated disc on Monday, February 25….Caitlin Radano, Director of Welfare, expresses to you her gratitude “for your generous donation of men’s and women’s coats…to our homeless population in the City of Danbury.”

 

A GIRLFRIEND’S GUIDE TO THE BIBLE

 

A Girl Friend’s Guide to the Bible is a new Bible Study starting up **March 7** (Friday group, 10:00 AM in the Lounge) and **March 9** (Sunday group, 11:30 AM in the Upper Core).   This 6 week course will explore selected texts and topics that especially speak to women interested in nourishing themselves and their faith.  There’s no homework!  Just come as you can to whichever group and topic fits your schedule and interests.  It’s a time for you to enjoy study and conversation, and to develop and deepen friendship with each other and with Jesus Christ. 

                                                                                                                       

Each week, we’ll explore texts and topics tending to our faith through:           

v      Busyness                The Martha/Mary Conundrum                                                                                        3/7 or 3/9         

v      Wilderness              Feeling like Job-ette: Why is this happening to me?                                                     3/14  or 3/16

LENTEN WEDNESDAY SUPPERS AND TABLE TALKS

This Wednesday, March 12

6:15 PM – Pot-luck supper (for children, teens, and adults)

6:45 PM – Bible Table Talks (led by Mary Grace Williams): “Jesus in Gethsemane

This Wednesday will be the sixth of seven suppers/Bible table talks on the theme: “Through Hardship to Hope.” Bring yourself and some simple, natural foods to share with others. If you need nursery-infant child care, please call the church by 12 noon this Friday, March14th to reserve the use of the church’s babysitter for Wednesday, March 19. If, later than this Friday, you find you can come with your babysitter, we’ll be happy to make available the Discovery Room for your children and your sitter.

 

MANNA HOUSE: The second Tuesday of each month, volunteers from WPC help serve a meal to hungry and homeless people in South Norwalk. Set-up and preparation begins at 11:30 AM and the meal is served at 1:00 PM. We also need people to donate food as well as help prepare the meals in the WPC kitchen that will be taken to Manna House. If you would be willing to help in any way, please call Mary Marquardt at 544-8622. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated!

 

THE 2008 CHURCH DIRECTORY is available on the credenza in the foyer/Narthex and in the church office. Members and friends of WPC are welcome to pick one up.

 

There are extra ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING mites boxes and envelopes available on the credenza in the foyer/Narthex. Please help yourself.

 

LADIES’ LENTEN HOME COMMUNION, Friday, March 14, 2008, 7:30 PM. At the home of Janet Johnson, 82 Kellogg Drive, Wilton – 762-9303. Members and friends of WPC are welcome to participate in this ladies-only Lenten Home Communion. Jane Field will be officiating. Come break bread with your friends and neighbors. Dessert and coffee will be served. No reservations necessary.

 

EASTER BRUNCH: The Church Life Committee is in need of volunteers to make casseroles for the brunch. Please contact Ellen Mann (ehazmann1@aol.com or 761-9222) if you can help out. She has the recipe that she can either email or snail mail to you. Thanks so much.

 

EASTER FLOWER AND MUSIC FUNDS

 

Members wishing to donate to the annual Easter Flower Fund are encouraged to send contributions – in whatever amount you wish – to the church office no later than Monday, March 17. Please remember to note the name(s) of those family members, relatives, and close friends to whom you wish remembered/honored. Names and donors will be printed in the Easter worship bulletins.

 

An Easter Music Fund in memory/honor of loved ones is being offered as well. Contributions to the Easter Music Fund will help pay for musicians hired for Easter and other special Sunday services. As with the flower fund, names of loved ones will be printed in the Easter worship bulletins.

 

Again, please send contributions in whatever amount you wish to the church office no later than Monday, March 17. Be sure to specify in memory or honor of and Music or Flower Fund.

 

CHILDREN’S CHOIR:  All kids in Grades K-5 are invited to join WPC’s Children’s Choir for Palm Sunday and Easter. Remaining rehearsals are Thursdays, 4:30-5:15 PM, March 13, 20 and Saturday, March 22 at 9:30 AM. Please let us know if your children are planning to sing. RSVP to the church office at 762-5514 or wpchurch@snet.net.
