INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. Should this be the right time and season for you to join this family of faith, please speak with the Elder Greeter, John Myers, the Pastor, or call the church office (762-5514). The next regularly scheduled Session meeting to receive new members will next Sunday, November 18, 9:30 AM in the Quiet/Meditation Room.

GOD’S PEOPLE HERE.  We extend our Christian sympathy to Hank Watkins at the death of his mother, Barbara Watkins. She died of cancer at home on November 1 and is survived by her husband, Norman, sister Gloria, three children and five grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for November 17 in La Jolla, CA…Our prayers are with Ethel Hutchinson, mother of Barbara Hartman and grandmother of Tracy Darmofal, who is in the second stages of Alzheimer’s. Since a fall last Tuesday, October 30 that resulted in a broken hip, she has been a patient fighting pneumonia at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia…We hold close in prayer Gary Wilburn, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, New Canaan, and his wife, Bev, as they prepare to return to San Diego, California in late December to be with their son, Sean, and daughters, Grace and Cameron. Gary has been diagnosed with SMA (spinal muscular atrophy), a form of progressive muscular atrophy that compromises both breathing and speech. His last Sunday at New Canaan Church will be Sunday, December 23.

MANNA HOUSE: The second Tuesday of each month, volunteers from WPC help serve a meal to hungry and homeless people in South Norwalk. Set-up and preparation begins at 11:30 AM and the meal is served at 1:00 PM. We also need people to donate food as well as help prepare the meals in the WPC kitchen that will be taken to Manna House. If you would be willing to help in any way, please call Mary Marquardt at 544-8622 or Nancy Hayes at 761-9818. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated!

WILTON TOWN MEETING

Thursday, November 15

7:30 PM

Wilton High School Cafeteria

to request an extension of the Wilton Common’s option on town land for another three years

in order to secure additional project funding.

Voting will follow the presentation/discussion that evening

and continue on Saturday, November 17, 9 AM – 6 PM at Town Hall.

The Wilton Board of Selectmen approved/endorsed this extension at its meeting on September 17, 2007.

Wilton Commons is an affordable living facility (77 units for senior citizens with assisted living services available) proposed for development on 4 ½ acres along Route 7 north of Trackside Teen Center. WPC has supported Wilton Commons since its inception with seed money ($10,000 from its Mission Development Fund) to fund a feasibility study and has pledged, from its Mission Development and Endowment Funds, a combined total of $20,000 toward construction costs of its interfaith chapel. In addition to the Pastor, WPC members Bob Garland, Frank and Judy Mabley, and Don Marquardt have served actively on its Board of Directors.

Gently used winter clothing (adult sizes) Sweatshirts? Flannel shirts? Jeans?

JOINT ADULT EDUCATION, Sunday Mornings at 9:  "Jesus: Uncovering the Life, Teachings, and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary" by Marcus Borg continues November 11 and 18. Marcus Borg is one of the best known modern Christian theologians.  He has done much to revolutionize our understanding of first-century Christianity. Borg uses the latest information from archeology and new textual discoveries to illuminate life around the time of Jesus’ ministry.  In the process, he offers a fascinating view of Jesus' Way to God’s Kingdom through transformation of lives and concern for those in need. Borg’s latest book is the subject of the Adult Education series on Sunday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m. through November 18.  Participants need not read the book or attend all the sessions to enjoy the discussions we'll be having on this exciting topic.

IT’S CHOIR-PLUS TIME. Yes, time once again for WPC’s annual Advent Music Sunday – often lovingly referred to as BAAAMS – (Big Al’s Awesome Advent Music Sunday). This year this special music service is scheduled for December 16th. The Sanctuary Choir, augmented by many of you who can’t commit to choir on a fulltime basis, take over and the music becomes the sermon for the day. If you would like to join in and be part of this year’s Choir Plus, please contact Al Galletly. You will need to attend at least two (preferably three or four) Thursday evening rehearsals … plus a special rehearsal on Saturday morning, December 15th. We’ll be singing some wonderful music, with the major work being John Rutter’sGloria” … a fabulous piece of Christmas celebration music. We’ll end up with Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus. So please join us. Fill the choir risers for BAAAMS … and fill the rafters with joyous singing.

Please volunteer for the
