INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. Should this be the right time and season for you to join this family of faith, please speak with the Elder Greeter, John McReynolds, the Pastor, or call the church office (762-5514). The next regularly scheduled Session meeting to receive new members will be next Sunday, October 21, 9:30 AM in the Quiet/Meditation Room.

GOD’S PEOPLE HERE.  We hold close in prayer former WPC member Becky Masters, who is under hospice care at home with Stage IV pancreatic cancer, anticipating weeks, not months. With Becky at her home (2921 North Governeur, Apartment 203, Wichita, KS 67226) is her daughter, Rachel....We extend our Christian sympathy to Barbara Quincy at the death of her mother, Mary Tappan, at Barbara's home in Wilton last Sunday morning, September 16. Mary had moved from her home in Cranford, New Jersey to live with Barbara in 2005. A graveside service will be held in Newton, New Jersey at a later date.

GILDED LILLIES: I am looking for more members to join a quiet group in our church who prepare the communion table on non-communion Sundays.  The commitment is only one week per year or more if you prefer.  The duties are to place the appropriately colored table cloth, candles, cross and floral arrangement on the table and to remove them after worship.  I will also ask the entire committee to help decorate the Sanctuary for Easter and Christmas.  I will host a floral arranging workshop to teach you how to prepare inexpensive and creative arrangements to make our worship services more festive.  We have a small table guild flower budget to help defray some of the cost.   If you are interested in helping out, please send me an email or call me at ngorkin@aol.com or 563-9116....Nancy Gorkin

Ann Philbrick, a consultant with Church Smart Resources, will present results of the Natural Church Development survey taken last spring to officers and members of WPC, explore its implications, and entertain questions and comments from officers/members. As an important data point in Session’s discernment process, Session desires this process to be transparent to the congregation and its data open for all prayerfully to consider.

CHURCH SCHOOL: Our first Joyful Noise Sunday for this year will be September 30th.  At 10:45 children in grades Kindergarten through 4th grade will gather in the Upper Core where they will sing both hymns and such old favorites as “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”, “Jesus Loves Me”, and “Father Abraham”.  Children will also receive communion, alternating between Presbyterian and Episcopalian traditions. Last year Joyful Noise was a great success.  Both children and parents are excited about continuing this opportunity to explore faith through music.  On Joyful Noise Sundays, parents should pick up their children in the Upper Core at the end of worship.

A JOINT FELLOWSHIP BRUNCH will take place immediately following the joint World Communion Service on Sunday, October 7th in Parish Hall. Come and enjoy some conversation, coffee and quiche with your fellow Episcopalian brothers and sisters. The meal will be provided by both congregations. Please help out by bringing the following for the buffet (last names beginning with):

A-D     Fresh Fruit (cut up or whole)

            E-J       Salad

            K-Q     Breakfast breads and pastries

R-Z      Main dish (quiches, egg casserole, etc.)

We also need volunteers to assist with set-up, serving and clean-up. If you can lend a hand or have questions, please call Patty Connor at 761-0163 or email at shelby27@optonline.net.
