INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. We’re glad you’re here! Please join us for a cup of coffee following the worship service. (Juice is available for children). Should this be the right time and season for you to join this family of faith, please speak with the Elder Greeter, Lisa Lillie, the Pastor, or call the church office (762-5514). The next regularly scheduled Session meeting to receive new members will be Sunday, September 23, 9:30 AM in the Quiet/Meditation Room.

 

GOD’S PEOPLE HERE.  Our prayers are with Barbara Watkins, mother of Hank, who is in a San Diego convalescent home with terminal (Sage IV) cancer…congratulations to Monisha and Jonanthan, Resident Directors at the ABC House in Wilton, at the birth of their second daughter, Olivia Grace Gibson, on September 4th.

Interfaith Worship

The Sacrament of Christian Baptism

 

Please consider as an individual or family fasting from sunrise through 11:30 AM this Sunday in solidarity with our Muslim brothers/sisters who, during this month of Ramadan, fast from sunrise to sunset each day.

 

10:00 AM         Morning Worship, Sanctuary welcoming our Jewish and Muslim brothers and sisters  with Lean Cohen, Rabbi of Temple B’nai Chaim (Georgetown) and Kareem Adeeb, Founder of American Institute for Islamic and Arabic Studies (North Stamford).

 

For our Jewish brothers/sisters, this is the Sunday between their high holy days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. For our Muslim brothers/sisters, this is the first Sunday in their holy month of Ramadan. Leah and Kareem will explain!

OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE LUNCHEON: Please join us following our interfaith service for a fabulous, fun lunch at the OUTBACK. The restaurant is open only to the Wilton Presbyterian Church to gather and enjoy a delicious Aussie lunch which includes the following:

            Aussie TizerBloomin Onion for each family

            Entrée – Choice of  9 oz center cut sirloin, chicken on the barbie or a griller.

            (All entrées will be served with a salad and a side)

            Includes a non-alcoholic beverage (alcoholic beverages may be purchased)

Kids meal includes either macaroni and cheese or chicken fingers with beverage and side.

All revenues for this amazing event are to benefit our church! $25.00 per adult and $7.50 per child – you may pay cash or check (no credit cards please) at the restaurant if you did not already pay at the auction. We look forward to seeing everyone down under!!

 

CHURCH SCHOOL BUSINESS: Reminder to all teachers that there is a teacher training session scheduled following worship this morning in the Upper Core…Church School begins next Sunday, September 16th.

MANNA HOUSE: The second Tuesday of each month, volunteers from WPC help serve a meal to hungry and homeless people in South Norwalk. Set-up and preparation begins at 11:30 AM and the meal is served at 1:00 PM. We also need people to donate food as well as help prepare the meals in the WPC kitchen that will be taken to Manna House. If you would be willing to help in any way, please call Mary Marquardt at 544-8622 or Nancy Hayes at 761-9818. Your generosity is sincerely appreciated!

Ann Philbrick, a consultant with Church Smart Resources, will present results of the Natural Church Development survey taken last spring to officers and members of WPC, explore its implications, and entertain questions and comments from officers/members. As an important data point in Session’s discernment process, Session desires this process to be transparent to the congregation and its data open for all to consider.
