INVITATION TO NEW MEMBERS. We welcome friends and visitors at worship this morning. We’re glad you’re here! Please join us for a cup of coffee following the worship service. (Juice is available for children). Should this be the right time and season for you to join this family of faith, please speak with the Elder Greeter, Glenn Shattuck, or the Pastor, David Graybill, or call the church office (762-5514). The next regularly scheduled Session meeting to receive new members will be at 9:30 AM on Sunday, May 20.

 

GOD’S PEOPLE HERE.  Jane Estes is recuperating at home following a successful heart catheterization procedure at Norwalk Hospital last Tuesday, April 24…Sonny Gerquest has been a patient this week at Norwalk Hospital…Susan Lucas, daughter of Tim and Leslie, married David Matiskella on Saturday, April 21 in Key Largo, Florida. Former Associate Pastor Rebecca Segers performed the ceremony.

 

STAFF NOTES: Director of Children’s and Youth Ministries Jane Field is worshipping at Zion’s Hill Methodist this morning….Pastor David Graybill will be away Friday-Sunday next weekend, visiting his Uncle Harry Goggans in Eufaula, Alabama. In case of pastoral need, he may be reached at his uncle’s home (334-687-4558)….Custodian Jairo Mejia is on vacation from last Thursday, April 26 through Monday, May 14. In his absence, former custodians Alix Williams and Steve Ragonese  and a variety of volunteers will be staffing WEPCO’s custodial needs.

VISITORS’ BRUNCH.  There will be a brunch at the home of Lynn and Frank Saphire (114 Hurlbutt St., Wilton) for those who have recently become members of WPC, and for visitors to our church today at 11:30 AM.  This fellowship opportunity is sponsored by the Outreach Committee.  If you would like to attend, please see Adele MacGregor after worship this morning. 

 

NEXT SUNDAY IS SENIOR RECOGNITION SUNDAY: Please worship with us as we celebrate the youth and children of our church.  High school graduates will be honored, and two members of the Class of 2007, Ben Fingeret and Evan Paul, will deliver the sermon.  A specially formed children’s and youth choir will be singing wonderful musical selections, including “For Good” from Wicked, “Seasons of Love” from Rent, “From A Distance” and “On Eagles’ Wings.”  During Sharing & Caring, our youth will honor the adult volunteers who have led our youth programs this year.  Don’t miss this very special day!!!

AMERICARES HOMEFRONT:  Volunteers needed for a joint WPC-St. Matthew’s project. Painters, carpenters, roofers needed on Saturday May 5th to repair a home for a needy person in Norwalk.  Sign up in the hallway at the rear of the church.  Contact Sonny Kern for further details at 834-7654 or sonnykern@aol.com.  .

 

CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS: Today each of our Church School classes (Pre-K through 7th grade) is making a small gift for our annual Spring Mission Project.  The gifts from each class will be gathered together in a decorated Spring basket to be delivered after church next Sunday, May 6, to friends in both of our churches.  Please see Sheri or Becky if you can deliver a basket next week…Next week our 6th and 7th grade Church School students will remain in worship with their families so that they can hear the seniors preach on Youth Sunday.  It’s a powerful experience for them to hear what church and faith have meant to older youth.

 

ATTENTION FAMILIES WITH 2ND GRADERS:  All WPC 2nd graders are invited to join our annual 3-part Sacrament Education class this spring to learn more about the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.  This class will culminate with the 2nd graders helping elders to serve communion to the congregation on Sunday, June 3.  This program is open to children of WPC visitors and members alike.  Class will meet before worship, at 9am, on Sundays, May 13 & 20 and June 3.  If you would like to register your child for the class, please contact Youth & Children’s Activities Director, Jane Field, at 762-5514 or janefield@snet.net.

 

CHILDREN’S & YOUTH CHOIR FOR MAY 6

 

All WPC children and teens, Grades K-12 are invited to join a special choir that will be singing during worship on Sunday, May 6.  They will be rehearsing special music, including popular songs from Broadway, after worship beginning March 18.  Please let Al Galletly or Jane Field know if your child would like to participate.  The rehearsal schedule will be as follows:
