What is expected of those who participate in the M.A.T.E. workweek?

The commitments that are expected of the M.A.T.E. participants
flow from the mission grace and mission work of the week. They help ensure
a productive and spiritually uplifting experience for those that
go to Maine to contribute, and those in Maine who desperately need the assistance,
| -Participants are expected to commit
themselves to an orientation session in Wilton, in advance of the M.A.T.E.
week proper, for community building,
and project orientation. |
-Participants are expected to conduct themselves
at all times in ways that respect property and value people. |

-Participants are expected to respect the needs
of others for quiet time and rest. |
| -Participants are expected to manage their own
time to be ready for daily work and be on time for kitchen duties. |
| -Participants are expected to share proportionally
the cost of family meals and daily post-work refreshments, and settle any
financial obligations for room and food before leaving Maine. |
| -Participants are expected to commit to a full
six-day week, from Saturday morning through a group breakfast on Friday.
For the
year
2007
Friday
will be
an optional
workday to allow participants travel time for the July Fourth holiday. |
-Participants, who are responsible for young people twenty years of age
or younger, are expected to be aware of that person’s whereabouts,
their kitchen and work site duties, and “off-work” activities
at all times. |
| -Participants are expected to commit themselves
to a full four days of work, including both site work and kitchen duties. |
| -Participants are expected to seek active ways
to relate to the homeowners and other people they encounter during their
daily activities. |
| -Participants are expected to be part of, and join in, the daily after-dinner
activities. |
